The James L. West Center for Dementia Care operates through the James L. West Presbyterian Center Foundation, a dedicated 501(c)(3) supporting foundation. The Center is seeking its inaugural Foundation President—a welcoming, purpose-driven leader to guide and grow philanthropic support for the Center. This thoughtful search seeks someone whose leadership, campaign experience, values, and perspective align with the future James L. West is working to create. Significant experience successfully planning, leading, and executing a capital campaign is essential to this role. 

For more than 33 years, the James L. West Center for Dementia Care has been Fort Worth’s trusted nonprofit leader in Alzheimer’s and dementia support. It’s also a place where compassionate, mission-minded professionals can make a meaningful difference every day as part of a team that cares deeply about the people and families it serves. 

As the city’s only skilled nursing center specializing exclusively in dementia care, James L. West offers a full continuum of expert-led services, including residential care, short-term rehabilitation, senior day programs, at-home care, professional and bilingual education, and free caregiver resources. Team members work collaboratively, sharing a commitment to meeting individuals and families wherever they are in their unique dementia journey.

This pivotal moment presents an exceptional opportunity for an accomplished fundraising executive to help shape the Foundation’s long-term strategy, strengthen philanthropic partnerships, and provide the vision and leadership necessary to advance ambitious future initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring demonstrated success planning and executing comprehensive capital campaigns, personally securing transformational gifts, and building the relationships and fundraising infrastructure necessary to support significant institutional growth. 

The Foundation President leads the Foundation’s comprehensive fundraising strategy and serves as a trusted relationship builder, cultivating meaningful connections with individual donors, foundations, corporations, community leaders, and other philanthropic partners. The President personally cultivates and solicits significant gifts and brings proven experience leading successful capital campaigns, major gifts, annual giving, planned giving, and other fundraising initiatives. Through thoughtful cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and communication, the President helps build a strong, sustainable culture of philanthropy that supports a mission making a real difference. 

Required Candidate Qualifications 

  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising, philanthropy, or nonprofit advancement. 

  • A demonstrated record of fundraising success, including significant experience with capital campaigns or other major fundraising initiatives. 

  • Excited by building teams and has an entrepreneurial spirit. 

  • A demonstrated record of fundraising success, including significant experience with capital campaigns or other major fundraising initiatives. 

  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and storytelling skills with the ability to translate organizational priorities, community needs, and aspirations into a compelling case for philanthropic support. 

  • Personal experience soliciting major and principal gifts. 

  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies including major gifts, annual giving, planned giving, institutional giving, special initiatives, and other appropriate philanthropic programs. 

  • Strong leadership capabilities, including experience leading and inspiring staff and Boards of Directors; setting organizational priorities; managing resources; building accountability; and fostering a warm, collaborative, high-performing culture. 

  • A strong balance of vision and execution, measuring success not only by dollars raised but by the strength of donor relationships and stakeholder confidence. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Advanced degree. 

  • CFRE or CAP designation. 

  • North Texas resident. 

Salary 

  • $200,000.
